So the War-Zone #1 of CWF starts.. with a very nice intro of CWF itself. I liked it!
Then the scene with Laz and 25,000 dollars.. I don’t know what I should think about it. Should Laz be a laughable authority person who no one takes seriously? Because putting own money to cash it in later to make the whole roster angry against the leader of CWF isn’t a good idea and makes his future promises or offers worthless. I think this kind of power abuse shouldn’t be displayed, not in public way at least. I wouldn’t do that outright in the first show.
First match, alright. I like that Lucha dinosaur already, putting him on my favourite characters list. “I’m still on Madrid time!”, had to chuckle. Yeah, the aftermath sounds like a classic start for a feud, a good thing when a fed starts freshly. You got me hooked on that.
Damn, Eddie Vega is downright very mean. I don’t know… it’s bit too much hate there, even for a heel commentator for my taste. But I like his talking style and the connection to Benjamin Price.
Nice touch with ad showing up! Especially when was funny. LOL better not bring any cats to AFC.
Second Match and Mysterion is the next one for my fav list. The idea as “shapeshifting” wrestler is pretty wacky… and I love it. It’s even funnier and cooler that the costume’s choice is actually based on a reason.
And now the third match. Can’t say much about chars at this moment which is normal since the CWF is new. Seems OK so far.
The skit with Alyssa Luchi… uhm… well, a bit over the top for my taste. I just checked the bio of Tarrasque and Armand Von Krauss… lol he was the former owner of RSW. I absolutely didn’t expect anything from that past here. And as German I HAVE to notice two things about manager: 1. the “von” is spelled in lowercase letters all the way. You wouldn’t write Lord Sean Of Seanchester aswell, right? 2. “Armand” is nowhere German. Even worse it’s a French name.
Ad again. You’re really trying hard to make the show as US-American, don’t you?
The next match is about a Hulk rip off and a pirate… I would call it funny if it wasn’t that ridiculous beatdown before the match. WTF? After it I wasn’t interested at all. What did the security do the whole time? Why wasn’t Ultimate Destroyer immediately suspended after that attack? Why did the match start? So it means in CWF, everyone can literally beat everybody and everywhere at any time without being afraid of consequences from higher staff?
Ad once again. What’s wrong with y’all Americans and ads?
And finally the main event. A brutal match. But why do Tarrasque and Tex hate so much each other? And there’s a weird bit: Eric the announcer is back, completely unscathed. It was a nice main event but - maybe I’m just blind - it lacks a lot of context here.
Overall, the show #1 was good starter with a lot of roadwork to do (which represents just only my opinion):
I. 3 ads in one show. I think there’s a great danger of overuse. I rather like one creative and original ad per show than three.
II. There’s not much stuff outside the ring but I guess it’s because still new.
III. The handler should really overhaul Ultimate Destroyer, especially making him more believable and relatable. At now it’s just ridiculous carbon copy of a Marvel hero.
IV. I’m uncertain about Laz as comedy relief in authoritarian position.
V. Lack of consequences of out-of-ring actions, especially after the attack on staff members and inactive security. I hope in #2 there will be consequences.
The most points are there because the CWF is still fresh and trying to find a course so please take them not as harsh as they may sound.
And don’t forget I did make a lot of positive feedback: great text style, cute pictures, two definitive candidates on my fav list and over all I was actually entertained.
